The script

Anlatıcı: Mehmet ve Zeynep (okuma)

İrem: İrem (ezber)

Mahmut: Mahmut(ezber)

Narrator: İrem, who lives in the city, visited her cousin who lives in the village. İrem was constantly talking about the advantages of living in the city and could not finish praising the beauties of city life. He invited his cousin, who was listening to him in silence, to his house in the city for a few days.

İrem: I know you will say that you are happy living here again. But this time I am determined to take you away.

Mahmut: Well, this time I will not hurt you and I will come with you.

İrem: And I think you will get caught up in the city’s magic and decide to live there. I’m sure of that.

Mahmut: So you’re so sure? Let me go and pack my suitcase.

Narrator: After a three-hour journey, the cousins ​​arrive in the city. İrem tells Mahmut that she is very tired and says that she needs a coffee before going to work. They go to a cafe and sit down. It is extremely crowded and noisy inside.

İrem: Let’s go to the cash register and place our orders.

Mahmut: Don’t the waiters come to the table here?

İrem : No, everything is self service here.

Narrator: The cashier asks what they want to drink. İrem says from usual. The cashier says low sugar light milk iced coffe latte americano.

Mahmut does not understand anything, he says what his cousin wants to drink and that he wants to buy a herbal tea. The cashier says, unfortunately, there is no herbal tea. Mahmut says get black coffee then. The cashier shakes his head again, meaning there is no.

Mahmut: Then I’ll just have water. There’s probably water too.

Cashier: Of course there is water, but how about your water? Big, small gas or no gas? We also have detox or mineral waters if you want.

Narrator: Mahmut was tired while listening to the cashier and all of a sudden.

Mahmut: I just want water, the water we know is like water flowing from a fountain. Just water.

Cashier: ok man, don’t be angry. I understand you want water.

İrem: What are you angry with the man? He just asked you.

Mahmut: You used to say that everything is easy in the city, but I see that even ordering is so difficult.

İrem: Please don’t exaggerate. I’m still sure that you will like city life. I have to go to work right away. Two meetings are waiting for me until 10 pm. Get the house keys and don’t wait for me for dinner. Oh god, there isn’t much to eat at home either. You can call one of the numbers on the fridge to order. For example, pizza or hamburger ?See you at night.

Narrator: Mahmut goes out and starts to wait for a taxi. At that moment, he looks at the people walking by him in a hurry.

Then he is startled by the sound of a brake. A car hit an old man. No one stops to help the man who collapsed on the ground. Everyone is walking fast as if in a hurry to get somewhere.

Mahmut immediately calls the ambulance and starts to wait by the man with a few people who are looking at the man with curious eyes. Some of the people walking by were taking pictures of the man who had the accident. Some of them started a live broadcast and gave information about the event like a reporter to their followers.

Streamer: I don’t believe it, my dear followers. I’ve just come across an accident. Now I’m telling you from the accident site. Wow, this is a very exciting situation. I wonder if the man is dead? We will see and understand this together soon.

Narrator: Mahmut was surprised at how people could be so insensitive. Unfortunately, the ambulance arrived minutes later due to the heavy traffic. Mahmut was lost in the flowing traffic and its deafening noise while the ambulance was going. Then he raised his hand to a taxi to stop. When he got home, he felt very tired and hungry. And he decided to order dinner at home.

Mahmut: Is that a Quick Pizza restaurant?

Pizzeria: Yes, here you go. May I take your order?

Mahmut: I want pizza with cheese and tomato sauce.

Pizzeria: Margarita pizza? But would you like us to add mushrooms to your pizza for just a small difference?

Mahmoud: No, thank you.

Pizzeria: What would you like as a drink?

Mahmut: I don’t want a drink, thank you.

Pizzeria: Wouldn’t you like to add dessert to your order?

Mahmut: No I don’t want it. Just pizza please. I don’t want anything.

Pizzeria: Okay, sir, why are you angry? Please tell me the address.

Mahmut: Cumhuriyet street B14 number 2.

Pizzeria: For your information, we only accept payments by credit card.

Mahmut: How is it? Why can’t I pay in cash? I do not have a credit card.

Pizzeria: That’s our company policy, sorry, have a nice day.

Narrator: Mahmut doesn’t want to stop for a minute anymore. Life in the city was not like his cousin described. He writes a note to his cousin and leaves it on the table.

Goodbye İrem on the note. City life is very difficult for me. I am happy in my village. People help each other, neighbors know each other.

There is no traffic and there is peace. Think about it, I couldn’t even order a coffee for myself. Like life in the city, coffee has to have a long name and complex here. I couldn’t buy anything from the pizzeria even with my money. I’m going back to my village.
