To the reader

This book contains the stages of the drama work of the Erasmus plus project ”Playing with the play”. At first, the goals of the project are opened. Next, the drama work of the schools (drama clubs)  of the different participating countries is described.

Then, in the chapter ”We dream the same Europe” we describe how the students created four plays together. As such, the method is suitable to be repeated either in international or national activities.

The book contains videos of both the schools’ own performances, the rehearsal process of the joint play, and the finished performance.

The book also contains scripts of performances.

We hope you enjoy the book when you plan to teach literature and theater at school or in another community.

We, the six schools enjoyed the international collaboration, which gave the students tools for teamwork. It also gave them tools to deal with themes that touch them. When young people deal with topics that are important to them through drama, they can distance themselves from the topics and look at them through the eyes of an outsider. On the other hand, they get to live the roles of different persons. In this way, their understanding of various phenomena increases.
